On the hunt for a particular reference piece, I went out to the creek looking for exactly this scenario. A beautiful tree clinging onto the bank with its dear life and dipping its branches into the water. As is common at this time of year, its the very picture of old and new growth, living side by side: Old branches, new leaves. Old stones, new dirt. Old roots, new water.
Theres a beautiful calm dappled light coming in through the canopy and a slight calming orange light cast into the underside of the tree, reflected from the water. None of these pieces quite came into being in the way I would have expected, but then what else is the point of a study like this than to learn from nature herself.
